Erasmus+ KA220 “Do Not Let Water Leave Us” – Milan Mobility Summary
From November 19-25, 2024, the second mobility of the Erasmus+ KA220
“Do Not Let Water Leave Us” project took place in Milan, Italy.
This mobility focused on studying the historical and modern relationship between Milan and water.
Key Activities:
Cultural and Historical Exploration:
- Visits to Milan’s Navigli canals, learning about their historical importance in irrigation and transport.
- Tours of Sforzesco Castle, Sempione Park, Arch of Peace, and Milan Central Station to understand the city's development.
- Exploration of the Duomo di Milano, Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, and San Siro Stadium to appreciate Milan’s architecture and cultural significance.
Project Activities:
- Presentations and discussions on water conservation and responsible use.
- Hands-on activities such as an orienteering challenge related to water issues, painting water-themed designs, and a talk on Leonardo da Vinci’s hydraulic inventions.
- A biological study of the local canals, analyzing water pH, nitrite levels, and microorganisms.
- Participation in a Dragon Boat activity on the Naviglio Grande, despite challenging weather conditions.
Social and Recreational Activities:
- Shared dinners and team-building games with participants from different countries.
- Visits to local markets, shopping districts, and famous Italian eateries.
Despite weather challenges, the week was highly enriching, reinforcing awareness of
water management while fostering cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.
