Erasmus+ KA220 “Do Not Let Water Leave Us” – First Mobility (Spain)

From May 13-17, 2024, IES Santa Lucía hosted teachers and students from Türkiye, Austria, Portugal, and Italy for the first mobility of the Erasmus+ KA220 “Do Not Let Water Leave Us” project. The main objective was to raise awareness about water scarcity and responsible usage

Key activities throughout the week included:

Water Analysis & Awareness:

Students analyzed water consumption in their countries, identifying agriculture and tourism as the main sectors of high water use. They created a Decalogue for Water Conservation, translated into multiple languages for local distribution.

Scientific Experiments & Surveys:

Students participated in experiments and interactive surveys to measure daily water consumption and explore sustainable alternatives.

Field Visits & Cultural Activities:

  1. Tenefé Salt Mines to explore the role of seawater.
  2. Heredad de Aguas de Sardina to understand historical and modern water distribution in Gran Canaria.
  3. Poema del Mar Aquarium to study marine ecosystems and desalination.
  4. Historic sites in Las Palmas, focusing on the role of water in urban development.
  5. Zafra Museum to learn about water’s role in agriculture and community development.

The mobility fostered international collaboration, deepened participants' understanding of water conservation, and set the foundation for future project activities.
